Ad hoc Ground - Block, 2020

BLOCK is a polysemous word
It can refer to obstruction or stagnation, a physical object or an emotional state, an architectural form or a spatial measure.
It’s both noun and verb, action and condition.
This multiplicity draws me in. I’m interested in how language and material entangle—how a “block” might be a building, a hesitation, a fragment, or a placeholder.
The units in this piece remain scattered, but momentarily cohere—as if frozen within one instant. Together they form an accumulation: my layered impressions of the city, stacked and unsettled.
