郁单滢  danying

Danying Yu (b. 1997, Shanghai) works in London and Shanghai.

Danying’s practice focused on themes of spatial practice, psychogeography, home-making, everyday life, and social resilience. Overarchingly her work looks at the ingenious, adaptive, and sometimes precarious tactics employed by migrants and diasporic individuals within their living environments. It explores the spatial expression of their home-making processes in everyday life and envisions alternative ways to ‘collect’ and ‘display’ these lived experiences, revealing the narratives behind individual resourcefulness that are often overlooked, hidden or even erased.

She has recently established an interdisciplinary collective bones of the house focused on art and anthropology in collaboration with anthropological researcher Sunny Tang.
